Why is this seat important?
Why and who you elect for District 10 commissioner matters.
District 10 is entirely unincorporated and all of us in the district depend and rely on county government for all our services.

From everyday things like pothole repairs and garbage collection, we depend on the Miami-Dade County government. Emergency Services are also handled in our district by the County.
​
That is why who you elect as your commissioner is extremely important.
As your commissioner I will fight every day for you and the interests of our district, including safety and security.
Previous Accomplishments
Independent Civilian Oversight Panel Ordinance
I worked cooperatively and collaboratively with a coalition made up of thirty-two (32) different community based organizations, in Miami Dade County. The coalition
advocated and persuaded the Miami Dade County Commissioners to pass the
Independent Civilian Oversight Panel Ordinance. The Ordinance gives the Panel the
authority to investigate citizen complaints involving local law enforcement.
Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Reforms
While I was working for the Federal Government I worked closely with United States
Attorneys’ addressing issues and making changes and recommendations to the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). Having to document example cases and problems caused by
the loopholes in the CFR in a correct, concise, and understandable fashion was a
challenge.
Community Activist
As a Community Activist, I have collaborated with community and organizational
leaders to change local and state policy by using innovative ideas and solutions. My
ability to interact with legislative members and staff to move legislation and persuade
decision makers demonstrates my skill, resourcefulness. This also shows the initiative
needed to resolve outstanding problems and issues for decision makers which would
move public policy forward.

Mental Health Reform
I also worked closely with our state legislature to pass a mental health initiative. The
law requires the use of de-escalation strategies and outreach to a mobile response
team before law enforcement is called to remove a child from school property under the
Baker Act. HB 945 passed both the State House and State Senate unanimously and
signed into law by Governor DeSantis.
